Description
In 1994, at the age of 77, former Brandeis sociology professor Morrie Schwartz learned he had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease: incurable, progressively disabling, eventually fatal. People with degerative or terminal illnesses often withdraw, becoming too fearful or depressed to enjoy interacting with others. Morrie, however, embraced his illness, choosing to live as fully as possible in the time he had left.
This book offers Morrie's remarkable philosophy on living and dying, combining wise aphorisms, inspiring lessons and prctical advice to those who have chronic or teminal illnesses as well as anyone close to them. A compassionate, unforgettable guide to caring for the mind and spirit when the body grows frail, the book will have a alsting impact on whoever reads it. It is Morrie's invaluable legacy to us all.
