Description
A historical novel about members of the Fromm family who escape from their master in Western Europe and travel to the Volga River area of Russia at the invitation of Catherine the Great who promised them land and peace. There they tame a frontier and turn it into one of the breadbaskets of the world. Shortage of land and broken promises by the Russians induce their descendants to emigrate to Dakota Territory and begin pioneering anew.
