Description
As the free world crumbles beneath Hitler's jackboot, the French Resistance is depending on these women to change the course of history... The beautiful and fearless Christine Granville is one of the first females to be hired by the Special Operations Executive (SOE). Together with her one-legged lover, Andrew--and much to the chagrin of her husband--she operates in Budapest, Istanbul, and Cairo. But even Christine, Churchill's favorite spy, will have her endurance tested when she is infiltrated into Occupied France... As anti-Semitism climaxes in Paris, Sonia Olschanezsky is sent to the Drancy internment camp. Since the usual way out of Drancy is to be transferred east to Germany, Sonia is as surprised as anyone when she is released. As more and more Jews disappear, she is forced to stay under the Gestapo's radar. Still, when the opportunity arises to join the Resistance, she readily accepts, vowing to do everything she can to help her countrymen, no matter what the cost. When her old lover, Henri Déricourt, returns to Paris to ask Julienne Aisner to assist him in his new position with the SOE, she jumps at the chance. But as the net closes in on the other Parisian espionage networks, Julienne begins to suspect that Henri might be playing a dangerous double game...
